Mekong Fishery Awarded World’s First “Grade-A Pangasius Fish” Certification, 

Setting New Quality Benchmark for China-Laos Cooperation in the Lancang-Mekong Region

Recently, at the “Global Industrial and Supply Chain Quality Development and Cooperation” Forum of the 6th China Quality (Nanjing) Conference, Mekong Fishery Co., Ltd. ( “Mekong Fishery”) was awarded the world’s first “Grade-A Pangasius Fish” inspection and certification by NSF, an internationally recognized certification body. 

This pioneering certification represents a major breakthrough in high-end aquatic product quality standards and marks a new milestone for the high-quality development of fisheries in the Lancang-Mekong region.

The issuance of this certificate is a direct outcome of deepened quality cooperation between China and Laos. During the forum, the Chinese Academy of Quality and Inspection & Testing (CAQI) and the Department of Livestock and Fisheries of the  Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (DLF-MAE) of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the joint research and demonstration of the 『Grade-A Pangasius Fish』  inspection and certification system.

The two sides will jointly advance the establishment of a regional and international certification system, aiming to facilitate the in-depth development and industrial upgrading of fishery resources in the Lancang-Mekong River Basin, to achieve “co-development, mutual recognition, and interconnectivity” of quality infrastructure.

As the first enterprise worldwide to obtain the “Grade-A Pangasius Fish” certification, Mekong Fishery has established a full industry chain in Laos, covering seed breeding, farming, processing, export, and sales of pangasius (Basa Fish). This achievement underscores the company’s strengths in quality control, food safety, and alignment with international standards, setting an authoritative benchmark for Lao pangasius  (Basa Fish) to enter the global market.

Guided by the Belt and Road Initiative, Mekong Fishery will continue to play a pioneering role, working closely with Chinese and Lao quality institutions to develop, promote, and implement certification systems.
